Volunteers are crucial to Heritage Museum of Asian Art’s daily operations. Volunteers who commit even just a few hours a month of their time allow us to better share Asian art with the public. There are a variety roles volunteers can play to assist us. We invite you to join our volunteer team in a capacity that works for you.
Volunteers are needed to tend the museum front desk, and greet museum guests during normal museum operating hours. With some training, volunteers should be able to work the cash register to take admission fees, check customers out from the gift shop, and assist guests with any questions they may have about the museum and it’s facilities.
Docent Volunteers are vital to museum operations. Through the sharing of knowledge, docents inform, stimulate, and educate visitors to Heritage Museum of Asian Art. Enthusiasm, a desire to learn, and commitment are several of the most valuable characteristics of a docent. Volunteers interested in becoming a docent will need to attend a docent training session in order to prepare them to give guided tours through the exhibits.
Volunteers are needed to watch over the museum exhibits, displays and artifacts and report any problems to a museum staff member. Attendants are not expected to be knowledgeable about the artwork.
Volunteers are needed to watch over library patrons during normal museum hours. With training, volunteers will pull and return books for guests of the library.
Please download and fill out the Volunteer Application Form and return it to the museum. Someone from the museum will contact you about our current needs.
